Up And Coming Games Still To Be Released In 2022

Glenn Alexander 2022-06-17

What a great first half of 2022 we've had in terms of games, gaming and game releases. Hopefully by now everyone has taken the time out to be crowned Elden Lord in what in my opinion is going to be game of the year for sure. Elden Ring released way back at the end of February this year and still has players feeling frustrated as they take on all the various bosses in the game.

But for today, I want to focus on what we can still look forward to as gamers. What new games are coming our way in June and beyond?

Obviously I cannot list every single title on every single platform, so as usual, I've picked a Top 5 games that I am personally still looking forward to playing this year. I'd like you to let me know over on Twitter @GlennZA what game or games are you still excited to play this year and what have you been playing.

It is no secret my platform of choice is Xbox but I try to cover all platforms in this list starting off with what is coming out in June and working our way to the end of the year.

  • Mario Strikers: Battle League Football
    Platform: Nintendo Switch
    Date: 10th June 2022
Synopsis: I've always enjoyed the take from Nintendo when it comes to their unique football styled games. Mario Strikers is no different. You get to play five-on-five trying to score goals by dribbling and passing to teammates, using robust tackles and moves, and of course the special shots. You can also equip your team with gear to boost your stats, and play both with local and online multiplayer.
  • Two Point Campus
Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series S|X, Xbox One, PC
    Date: 9th August 2022
Synopsis : You all know about Two Point Hospital and the chaos that comes with trying to run your own facility, but now it's time to design and run your very own college, complete with appropriately whimsical and utterly bonkers classes. It is all in your very own hands as you create your perfect campus, shape the lives of your students on a more personal level than with Two Point Hospital, and manage its overall success. I am really keen to play this in August.
  • Saints Row
Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series S|X, Xbox One, PC
    Date: 23rd August 2022
Synopsis: What could possibly be titled the reboot of the year, Saints Row is coming back with a complete reboot of the series. Playing as the Boss with a small group of friends just starting out, It'll be your decisions that will shape the newly formed gang, and you'll be able to make your mark on the fictional city of Santo Ileso by deciding what kind of crime lord you want to be. Drug smuggling? Arms dealing? You get to decide. You get to tell the Saints' origin story your way.
  • Lord of the Rings: Gollum
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series S|X, PS4, Xbox One, and PC
    Release date: 1st September 2022
Synopsis: Are you ready to become precious with Lord of the Rings: Gollum? This is a brand new game from Daedalic Entertainment where you finally get to play as, Gollum. [My precious]. Starting out in Barad-dûr, the Mordor fortress where Gollum is being held captive, the game will take you through plenty of the iconic Middle-Earth's locations and settings. Interestingly enough the game is inspired by Tolkien's own drawings and plays out like a stealth-action-adventure game that takes advantage of Gollum's dual personalities too. You are sure to be in for a rollercoaster of a ride with this title in September.
  • Hogwarts Legacy
Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S
    Release date: Holidays 2022
Synopsis: From the games above and below this one has caught my interest from the very first announcement. Strangely I am not the biggest Harry Potter fan, yet this game has my full attention. It is worthwhile knowing the game is not a direct adaptation of the Harry Potter books, Hogwarts Legacy is taking all of its inspiration straight from the lore.
You are actually playing as a student attending Hogwarts during the 1800s, some hundreds of years before Harry and his friends were even born. The game is an open world RPG, so expect plenty of areas and secrets to explore too.

Honourable Mentions:

  • Gotham Knights
Platforms: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, PC
    Release date: 25th October 2022
  • Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
    Platforms: Nintendo Switch
    Release date: 18th November 2022
  • ST.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl
    Platforms: Xbox Series S|X, PC
    Release date: 8th December 2022
