Best Free Mobile Android Games 2021

Glenn Alexander 2021-05-25

Free, free, free, yes that is what today’s article is all about. I must however start off with a small disclaimer… I am not the world's most invested mobile gamer. I’ve always preferred to play on a console connected to a monitor or TV, or recently, the Razer Stealth 15 gaming laptop and even more recently the Nintendo Switch.

The Switch (Nintendo)

The Switch is the closest I can say I’ve come to mobile gaming in recent years. So, with the disclaimer out of the way I also need to add I’m an Android owner so the list that follows does not factor in mobile games on iPhone which I am sure some of these listed below are also available for iPhone too.

Free Games (Android)

With this being my penultimate list for F2P games series right here on Fibre Tiger, the past few months I’ve already looked at what I think are the best F2P games for the following platforms which you can check out here:

Best Free PC, PlayStation and Switch Games

At the start of the year when I first put up the F2P games for PC, I knew I’d be needing to do an Android list of F2P games, so over the past 4 months, I’ve been trying and playing a variety of games on my phone. Today, I’d like to share what I think are my TOP 10 free to play games on Android are.

My Top 10 FREE To Play Mobile (Android) Games (Alphabetical Order)

  • Asphalt 9: Legends
  • Brawl Stars
  • Call of Duty: Mobile
  • Critical Ops
  • Final Fantasy Brave Exvius
  • Genshin Impact
  • Pocket City
  • PUBG Mobile
  • Roblox
  • Smash Hit

Below I’ve highlighted my five favourites from the TOP 10 list and give a short synopsis about each game. Feel free to share your free 2 play games with me over on Twitter: @GlennZA or disagree with me with my Top 10 list.

ASPHALT 9: Legends

Take on the most fearless drivers and become the next Asphalt Legend in the best arcade racing on mobile. The Asphalt franchise has some of mobile’s most popular racing games.

Asphalt 8: Airborne and Asphalt Xtreme were the big ones in the series.

In Asphalt 9: Legends, players are able to take the wheel of the most prestigious cars across amazing real world locations. Complete hundreds of events in the solo Career mode and face up to 7 players in real time in the multiplayer mode. You can even create your own Race Club and recruit players to compete as a team to be the best in the world!

CALL of DUTY: Mobile

Call of Duty: Mobile is one of my more favourites on this list. This one is so intensely popular and very good that it just made sense to be on my TOP 10 list.

The game includes classic online FPS PvP like any Call of Duty. However, it also includes a 100-player battle royale mode similar to PUBG Mobile and Fortnite.

That puts it in the rare category of a good regular FPS game like Critical Ops as well as a good battle royale like PUBG Mobile. The game has in-app purchases, but they seem to be solely for cosmetic gear and a good amount of it is available as in-game rewards.

The game play is good, and people seem to really like this one. It’s relatively new so there are some bugs, but those should be ironed out over time.

CRITICAL OPS

Critical Ops is a 3D MULTIPLAYER FPS build for mobile.

Experience action, where fast reflexes and TACTICAL skills are essential to success. Are you ready for the most skill-based mobile FPS?

POCKET CITY

Become mayor and build a city! Pocket City is a city building game for mobile devices. No microtransactions or annoying timers! Pocket City aims to capture the fun of city building on mobile without IAPs. (In App Purchases)

Featuring in-depth city building action optimised for mobile/touch devices. Grow your city from a small town to a bustling metropolis. Keep your citizens happy by managing traffic, environment, and preparing for emergencies.

Designate zones, build roads, build public services, recreation spots and more! Complete quests to earn XP to level up your city.

This is a game I probably spent the most time playing and will keep going back to it because it is that good. Interesting to note, Pocket City is primarily a solo project by a single developer.

PUBG Mobile

PUBG Mobile hasn’t been out globally for long. However, it’s already one of the most popular mobile shooters available. It features a 100-player battle royale on a small island. Players collect gear, weapons, and vehicles on the island and battle it out.

The winner is the last person standing. It also includes mechanics like a shrinking play area to keep games from going too long as well as an expanding list of content, cross-overs, and customisation items. There is also quite a big following locally for esports and tournaments.
